It is 1985, the United States of America. Society is very much fond of the superheroes and they live among common people. Rorschach is a vigilante and a main character of the film. When he finds out that one of his companions is killed he makes up his mind to take revenge over all ever existing superheroes. There also exists a crime-fighting legion that consists of a team of retired heroes who really were not able to make wonders except one of the members.

A hard-living superhero who has fallen out of favor with the public enters into a questionable relationship with the wife of the public relations professional who's trying to repair his image.
