Bob Wilton works as a reporter. He wants to find a new topic to write about when he comes across Lyn Cassady. This is an odd person who assures to participate in some governmental experiment connected with the militaries. She is sure she knows some secret data about the army that will change the method of proceeding wars.

Max Manus is in the centre of the story. This film describes his life during the World War II. After the Winter War between the Soviet Union and Finland he goes to Norway. Germans have already conquered the territory and Max takes part in resistance against the occupants. Luca Zingaretti stars as one of over 50,000 Italian Prisoners of War detained at POW camps in the U.S. Roy Schneider stars as Colonel Gartner, the Commander of the camp. Things take a turn for the worse when Manin is brought back from his most recent escape by a patrol force, only to realize that the camp has been evacuated while he was gone. Gartner is forced to keep Manin at the camp until another patrol force can come pick him up. However, no one ever comes.

The story develops during the World War II. The main character Rachel Steinn lives in Holland occupied by the Germans. She has been promised to move her family safely to Belgium. But they have been robbed and murdered by the occupants instead as their names have been written in the “Black book”. Somehow Rachel managed to avoid the death. She chose the moment and jumped into the water. This step saved her life.

An army unit on patrol in Vietnam is ambushed and most of the unit is killed. The survivors are given leave to return Stateside and see their families. They decide to visit one of their buddies who had been wounded in the ambush. When they arrive in his town, they run up against a killer cult led by a murderous psychopath.
