Take a Magical Journey into Alice in Wonderland

If you’ve never seen a version of Alice in Wonderland, you will be amazingly surprised by how psychedelic, swirling, melancholy, and gothic this version is. This live-action version, enhanced with CGI special effects, is the star-ridden masterpiece of Tim Burton, and it coalesces all of his favorite actors into one vehicle that is hard to forget. He even has Johnny Depp doing a dance at the end, as the mad hatter, that has never been done before on a movie screen, enhanced with special effects because the dance was so difficult to do.

This movie has a characteristic touch that is undeniably Tim Burton. All the faces, bodies, and settings are serene and unsettling at the same time. Every person is touched with a sense of otherworldly looks to them.

Alice does a wonderful job of capturing the character’s essence of being steadfast and lost at the same time, rather than going too deeply into paranoia or too much into bravery. She plays a solid center that draws attention away from her to the story, and that is all we can ask for in an Alice in Wonderful movie because Wonderland is the real star of the show in Alice in Wonderland, and there have been several versions done over the years.

Alice in Wonderland stars many of Tim Burton’s favorite characters including Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and newcomers Mia Wasikowska, Anne Hathaway, and Crispin Glover. These are newcomers to Tim Burton movies, not to movie stardom. Each of the characters has played in numerous Tim Burton movies. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter have collaborated on several Tim Burton movies, often together. What’s more is that they play especially well in their roles. Helena Bonham Carter is very believable as the Red Queen, and Johnny Depp steals the show as the Mad Hatter. He brings in an irreverence, pathos, and craziness to the Mad Hatter that has never been seen before.

Alice goes through the characteristic storyline in predictable fashion, but she deviates from the traditional storyline by battling a jabberwocky. This jabberwocky gives the movie a stunning conclusion that is all the more unbelievable because Alice is just a girl. No one can begrudge her the choice she makes when she comes home, but who can blame her for that? She is a brave, independent, and bold girl.
