Plot Summary:

This movie is the tale of Staff Sargeant Nantz's last day who was serving as a marine. He, in one of his previous assignment was unable to perform therefore due to this reason he was removed from his active service and put in to the reserve but then all of a sudden the marines were positioned in to Los Angeles directly for unknown reasons. After their deployment it is revealed to them that Aliens have attacked LA and are killing everyone there at the seaside. The main objective of aliens is to exterminate the humans in order to take control of all the water resources of the earth which is the main essential source to keep alive their mechanical bodies and ships. Staff Sargeant Nantz' joins that platoon which is deployed at LA for operation which comprises of TSgt Elena Santos (Michelle Rodriguez), Cpl. Nick Stavrou (Gino Anthony Pesci), second lieutenant William Martinez and Cpl. Jason Lockett. Their task is not to fight with the Aliens but to save the people who are left and trapped at the police station but during this mission they also come across the main command center of the alien from where they were conducting the whole operation of extermination of humans all over the world. So at this point we can say that there is nothing new in this movie as movies’ of the same type are already available in the market so there is nothing new stuff which can make the audience stunned. Similarly in the story one won’t find any real twist and the main character role is also quite simple that he is the one who has been rejected by his army and now has gotten a chance to prove himself. And the movie shows that the Americans are once again saving the world.

Besides this the action in this movies is quite well directed special scenes when the platoon was saving the civilians at the police station which was their major task was very well choreographed. The action is also very well supported by the background music. The quality of the Alien aircraft was quite up to the mark and the same thing is true for the Aliens. After watching this movie one feels that it is somewhat a bit overlong because you will notice a lot of similar scenes being repeated. Situation created in the movie are also the old ones like trapping of the soldiers in the battle field, sacrificing, fighting with the Aliens etc.

In this movie the director has adopted the close up action quite often which can be annoying to people as there is a lot of close movements of the camera instead of a steady one. Since this movie is mainly revolving around the science fiction center therefore we can say it’s a special movie and not the generic one. So people who are fond of viewing the science fiction stuff are most likely to like it on the other hand it is not meant for people who are not much of an action fan.
