Plot Summary:

The movie Centurion follows a splinter group of Roman soldiers trying to stay alive while being hunted by Pict warriors.

A Roman frontier garrison is attacked by Picts and the lead character, Roman soldier Quintus Dias is captured. To regain the outpost, the governor of Britannia sends the Ninth Legion under the command of general Virilus having a mute female Pict called Etain as a scout. On their way, they save Quintus Dias from his pursuers as he escaped the Pict camp. Later on, they fall into an ambush planned by Etain and Gorlacon which leads to the slaughter of most of the legion's members and the capture of the general. Seven Roman soldiers manage to stay alive and decide to save general Virilus. Led by Quintus Dias they enter the Pict camp at night but cannot break the chains which have the general bound. While retreating, one of the soldiers kills Gorlacon's son. To avenge his death, Etain challenges Virilus to a fight and kills him. Gorlacon reveals the painful past of Etain who has lost her parents due to Roman soldiers and was rendered mute by them. She is sent along with other Pict warriors to hunt down the surviving soldiers.

Etain follows their trail and catches up with them forcing the group to jump off a cliff into a stream. At night both leaders, Etain and Quintus Dias, prepare surprise attacks to reduce the number of opponents.

Further in the forest, Dias and others find Arianne who houses them and treats their wounds. She also hides them from Etain.

The final battle takes place in a deserted Roman garrison. Etain and others are killed. Dias and another soldier head out to the southern garrison. There the governor' daughter attempts to poison Quintus to leave no trace of the Ninth Legion's shameful story. He escapes and goes back to Arianne in the forest.
