Plot Summary:

Abbas Kiarostami is a well known Iranian director from the ‘Under the Olive Tree’ who has created this piece of art twenty five years later. It may seem as a sequel to it. This is a story of tough love that is both thoughtful and touching while twisted at the same time. Starring Juliette Binoche, William Shimell and Jean-Claude Carrière all have done an outstanding job. Juliette Binoche has out done herself. This is a romantic dream that has the ability to move the hearts of many. This movie is a great mystery in itself but the reality of it strikes the viewer the most with not just the acting but the dialogs as well. The dialogs are like a part of the life we all face and live everyday. ‘Certified Copy’ is movie to download for art lovers.

The movie is based in the small village of Tuscany in a beautiful European art house picture. This enigma of a movie shows a French woman (Binoche) who is attending a lecture from an English writer and author, James Miller (Shimell). James has written about copies in the art world. They both contact one another after the lecture and travel to Luciagno to discuss on the various art copies and their originals. Soon there is come sort of involvement taking place between the two and they are taken to be a married couple accidentally. They decide to play along. But soon this little joke gets out of hand as they pretend to take up roles as a couple married for 15 years.

The director creates a dilemma for the viewer with the image that all of us take up an imaginary role in our lives. His main idea is that nothing in fact is really original. One has to look deep in side to find out what is real and what is not. ‘Certified Copy’ may not be everyone’s cup of tea and may not be understood by all. It seems like an European art film but in actuality it is a copy of one. As the name of the movie implies it creates a puzzle in the mind of the viewer and it maybe a copy of the original but its value is nothing less.

‘Certified Copy’ is an open minded film. And the relationship between the two lead characters is never really explained through out the entire film. This may turn out to be an exasperating experience for many viewers but it keeps one glued to the movie and the screen. People come to many conclusions as to what the two are and all the elements are present in the movie to make it enticing and breath taking.

The location is beautifully captured and shown in the movie creating a beautiful backdrop for the romantic couple. This movie is for romance lovers who dream of finding their one true love. The complexity of this movie may seem a little difficult to grasp on to but for all those who love Abbas Kiarostami’s work as an illusionist are bound to love this epic story as well. ‘Certified Copy’ movie download is for all those out in search for watching a movie with love and mystery to it.
