Plot Summary:

The Company Men is a drama casting outstanding stars like Tommy Lee Jones, Ben Affleck and Chris Cooper. The storyline is based on man living his dream – the American dream, of having a great job and a great car but there comes a drastic change when he loses his job. The movie deals with the concept of the American life and shows the bigger picture to it. It shows the true reality of American life.

‘The Company of Men’ is a story that is based how the rich are further become rich and how downsizing is downsizing in jobs is effecting men and their families. They have to suffer and endure to gain back what they have lost. Directed and written by John Wells of the ER fame, is nicely conceived with humor and intense observation.

This is the story of an executive Bobby Walker (Ben Affleck) who leads the perfect life along with his colleagues and friends Phil Woodward (Chris Cooper) and Gene Mc Clary (Tommy Lee Jones). But when the GTX Corporation sets out to cut jobs to improve the balance sheet for the 2010 recession, amongst the thousands of employees these three also lose their jobs. Bobby was living the dream life and had never thought of being without it. Living this satisfied life made him forget that one day he could lose it all. Bobby along with his co-workers is compelled to change the way they live. But the three keep cool and calm. The movie shows that the characters always portray their dignity and self-respect even after losing everything that they had. Bobby finds jobs that are not according to his skill and expertise. He finds himself in between life coaching and building houses for his brother-in-law acted out by Kevin Costner.

Soon Bobby learns what true life is and understands that there is more to life than just going after your dream. He learns and sees the changes in his life as well as the change in his self worth.

This movie is very much close to reality and close to the problems that people after the recession faced. Critics and viewers liked the movie for its approach towards life and for people who like drama close to reality, then this movie is a must watch for them.
