Plot Summary:

The movie Despicable Me opens with a scene showing that someone stole the Great Pyramid of Giza and had it replaced with an inflatable one. The news reaches the supervilain Gru which plans to get a loan from the Bank of Evil to steal the moon, thus fulfilling a dream he's had from childhood. There he meets Vector who was the one that stole the Pyramid. The Bank's President, Mr. Perkins, doesn't approve the loan until Gru finds a shrink ray device.

The supervilain and his minions steal one from a secret lab. Vector steals it from him and shrinks Gru's ship. Thus a fight begins between the two.

Gru observes Vector's house and realizes that he is a cookie fan. He decides to adopt the three girls which delivered cookies to his house. In this way Gru could enter Vector's house and steal back the shrink ray. He places cookie shapes robots in the boxes to have some aid inside the house. The plan fails, but Gru manages to escape.

Gru spends a day having fun with the girls at Super Silly Fun Land and grows fond of them. His assistant, Dr. Nefario realizes this weakness and arranges for the girls to return to the orphanage.

Gru has to choose between going to the girls' ballet recital and going to the moon. He chooses the second option. He shrinks it and places the moon in his pocket. When he returns for the girls' recital he finds a note from Vector saying that he wants to exchange the girls for the moon. Gru accepts the deal, but Vector doesn't keep his word. At that point, the supervilain uses all his forces to enter Vector's house and get the girls. The Moon begins to increase in size and places herself back on the orbit taking Vector with it.

The girls have a recital for Gru and his mother.
