If we talk about western movies, one name tops the list, and that is Sergio Leons’s The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, released in 1966. This was the film that turned Clint Eastwood into a mega star. Written by Luciano Vincezoni and Sergio Leaone himself, the film also stars Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef. Though the plot of the film was nothing extraordinary with gun toting criminals after a gold bounty that is supposed to be buried in a remote cemetery, the film somehow turned into an epic still remembered today. The film has been set during the American Civil War, and the name justifies itself with three central characters. Tuco (Wallach) (The Ugly) is a notorious Mexican bandit with a bounty over his head. Blondie (Clint eastwood) (The Bad) is a bounty hunter who claims the reward for Tuco’s capture, but himself sets him free and the two share the reward. They do it a number of times in different cities and make a living this way. The two of them come to know of a gold bounty in a remote cemetery, but each knows only one half of the secret and so have to make and uneasy alliance for the sake of the bounty. Blondie soon realizes that Tuco is good for nothing and decides to dump and desert him midway. Tuco vows revenge and is after Blondie. This is the time when the last of the three characters, The Good makes his entry. Angel Eyes (Cleef) (The Good) is a professional gunslinger who learns that Tuco and Blondie know the secret of the gold bounty. Soon it becomes apparent to the audience that the three men are together just for the sake of gold and they will ditch each other as soon as they find the bounty.
