Plot Summary:

The movie Grown Ups opens up with a junior basketball match from 1978 when five friends lead their team to victory.

They meet up thirty years later when they return to their hometown to attend the funeral of their beloved coach. Lenny played by Adam Sandler has become a Hollywood talent agent, Eric brags to be a co-owner of a lawn furniture company, Kurt is a stay at home dad, Rob promotes pacifism and vegan lifestyle, while Marcus is a single man. All except Marcus are married and bring their families.

As the 4th of July weekend approaches, Lenny rents a lake house for his friends to stay in.

Lenny meets the star player from the opposite team from 1978. He is now a cook at a local restaurant. Dickie challenges Lenny to a rematch as he is convinced his team was supposed to win in that year. He is turned down.

Back at the lake house, issues start to rise between the couples. Lenny argues with his wife Roxanne played by Salma Hayek about her plans to leave shortly after the funerals. Lenny would like to stay to spend more time with friends and allow the children to get to know each other better. He wants them to play more outside and form long lasting friendships.

Later that night adults gather for a barbecue party where they drink and dance. Many issues surface for the couples. Roxanne argues with Lenny about the fact that he canceled the plane reservations to her next fashion show in Milan. Kurt has to explain to Deanne why he is more interested in Lenny’s nanny. Eric confesses that he has been fired two months ago. At the end they make promises to get along better and Lenny offers to Eric a business opportunity.

The match is replayed and Lenny lets Dickie win.
