Invictus Plot Summary:
Invictus is the story of the rise of Nelson Mandela during South African apartheid and how a whole nation came together through the sport of soccer. Miraculously, Nelson Mandela was able to get the assistance of the head of the South African soccer team in bringing together a whole nation around the sport of soccer. This movie is about how Nelson Mandela came to power, awkwardly, and gained the trust of a nation through his love of football. The national spotlight was turned on him, Morgan Freeman, and Matt Damon, as they jointly conquered the trust of a nation. This movie was directed by Clint Eastwood, and he is a veteran director. It is a biography, drama, history, and sport film. The film ends with Matt Damon’s team winning the 1995 Rugby World Cup and uniting the whole nation around the sport of rugby. This is a true story, and it recounts the story of how the captain of South Africa’s rugby team befriended Nelson Mandela and re-built a country together. The transition from apartheid to an integrated society was tough, and this movie recounts how Nelson Mandela handled it in his first term.
