Plot Summary:
At the beginning of the Second World War Nazis conquered the territory of Poland. The Soviet Union did the same thing. 10 000 odd people got in prison to enemies. Cruelty of war was a decisive factor in their destinies – at the beginning of spring 1939 they were killed in Katyn.
Film described the destinies of people who lived with hope. For example, Ana with her daughter and her husband’s mother didn’t want to believe that Ana’s husband Andrej is killed; they were waiting for him to come back. A wife of a general did not want to accuse Germans in the death of her husband in spite of pressure of the Soviet Union militaries. Agnieszka, who was imprisoned by Nazis during the war, returned to Poland and was imprisoned by the Soviet Union. The reason was rather unclear: for saying that her brother had been killed by her native country. The country suffers from denunciations, hexes and pretence. Is there a way out for poor people who are on the edge of losing hope?
