Plot Summary:
This is the movie repeating the name of the horror film of 1972. It shows how much a person can be depraved. The Last House on the Left has a very simple storyline describing 4 lawbreakers who managed to escape from imprisonment. They come across 2 young girls in a tiny town lost in the mountains. They kill one of them, then sexually abuse the other one and leave her dying. The matter is that this happen in one of their victims’ home where parents find out what these unbidden people had done to their teenage daughter. While the criminals are looking for a good place to hide her parents reflect on a plan of taking revenge. The first film appeared in 1972 and made furor because before such disgusting things had never been shown to the wide audience on the screen. It didn’t have a big budget and was considered brutal and unacceptable. But in 2009 everything has changed. The quality of a movie is quite better; the settings look very realistic and bright. Actors also show better performance and the leader Krug (Garret Dillahunt) is as persuading as never before. Actors playing parents (Tony Goldwyn, Monica Potter) did their best to show matted emotions of orphaned parents. Moreover in our times this film is not as shocking as it seemed in 1972 because there are lots of films of such a type. But these two films still exist under the same idea – denial of the fact that human existence has its eventual goal. Due to this idea we can put this film aside from other horror films because it proves that an offender should be offended as well.
