Plot Summary:

This movie actually revolves around Frank Leone who is a prisoner and warden Drumgoole. As the movie begins, Leone is in some auto shop (seemingly his own), and a girl (Melissa) enters looking for good mechanic. Possibly they have a kind of (loving) relationship as they embrace. The reason as to why there is a change in Leone’s custody is never told. And he lands up in prison after this.

That night, quite suddenly he is dragged to another prison by guards. In what is called Gateway Prison, Drumgoole tells Leone that he will be serving a hard time as some time in past Leone escaped Treadmore while Drumgoole was on watch. When Leone drifts down the memory lane, he recollects that his friend and mentor, Galletti was dying and Leone was denied to see him. Leone also involves press as he tells about his treatment to prisoners.

A number of events follow after this and Drumgoole gets many chances to severely punish Leone. He becomes friends with 3 people namely First, Eclipse and Dallas. All of them renovate a red colored Ford Mustang and name it Maybelline. Warden punishes them for getting the car out of garage and asks 2 prisoners to destroy the car and Leone is transferred to hole for the time of six weeks. He even plans to run away from the prison but is ditched by Dallas who is lured by warden with early release. But Dallas is double-crossed too. The warden makes the same deal to another guy in exchange of raping Melissa.

Leone is enraged on knowing that everything was a plan by warden to increase his sentence. So he confront warden in his office and starp him on electic chair. As the Captain comes in, Leone prepares to pull the switch and at that time, warden confesses of his plan. Warden is taken into custody and Leone serves only the sentence he was to at the first place.
