Plot Summary:

If you like thrillers, Memento is one psychological thriller that you will like to see again and again as it is a very intense and gripping film directed by Christopher Nolan and is based upon a short story written by his younger brother, Jonathan. The film is about a former insurance advisor and investigator, Leonard, who is hunting for a man he believes has raped and killed his wife in an attempt of burglary. Unfortunately, during the mishap, Leonard suffered a severe head injury as the attacker hit his head with a heavy object. As a result he is now suffering from anterograde Amnesia, and cannot recall events that happened a short time ago. His brain is unable to cope up with memories and so to manage his life he resorts to a system of notes, photos, and even tattoos to keep on recording information about him and others who are close to him. Leonard is hell bent on avenging the wrongdoing to his wife by killing the man who committed the dastardly act but the problem is that he is unable to remember everything that happens in life every day. Because of a short term memory loss, he has to keep on writing every single detail so that he can remember it by reading or seeing a photo that he clicks every few minutes. He is sure that John G, a name that has been tattooed on his body is of the person who killed his wife, and with limited resources available to him, tries ingenious methods to track the culprit.

The movie is told backwards, and this is to make audiences understand the sequence of events. Leonard can easily recall all the events before he suffered injury, but is unable to recall anything after the incident. He can recall that he and wife were attacked by a man, but cannot recollect his face which is the main problem he is facing while trying to trace the man.

While some people can shrug off the movie as being too ambitious or as a rare case, it does tell a lot about the potential of Christopher Nolan who has brilliantly captured the scenes making the film very intense and full of suspense.
