Plot Summary:

The idea behind the Percy Jackson and the Olympians has been compared to be more or less like the juts concluded Harry Potter series. The story is basically centered on the quest for an answer to what the Greek gods would be, were they to move along with time and what would they look and act like in the modern day? Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman) hasn't had a particularly easy life. His father left before he was a year old and he grew up in the home of an unfeeling stepfather (Joe Pantoliano) and his put upon mother (Catherine Keener).

The story is centered on the somewhat unlikely hero Percy Jackson (Lerman Logan) and his friends, which include Luke (Jake Abel) and Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario) all of whom are children of the Greek gods and have imbued fantastical powers. School is mundane but the day that one of his teachers grew wings and attacked him, Percy realizes that he had powers and that he is the son of the Greek God, Poseidon (Kevin McKidd).

Percy's mother is captured by Hades (Steve Coogan) in order to force Percy to give up Zeus' (Sean Bean) stolen Lightning Bolt so that he can cast his brother down, despite the fact that Percy doesn't have it and doesn't know who does. Percy has decided to go to Hades and explain that he doesn't have it. The journey to Hades and the battle to release his mother takes up the rest of the movie.
