Plot Summary:
The plot of the story deals with Margaret (Sandra Bullock) who works in New York as a book editor. She is a strict boss and a talented worker. After getting some problems with deportation back to Canada she makes her assistant Andrew (Ryan Reynolds) marry her for saving her career. He has no choice as his career is important to him as well but he puts his own conditions. INS agent watches them all the time. That is why they have to go to Sitka to meet Andrew’s parents and his grandmother who don’t know about the deal and think that their son is really in love. Margaret is a city woman and she finds herself in very unusual situations.

The Proposal may keep her from deportation
Canadian citizen Margaret Tate wants to remain in the U.S. and fearing deportation proposes to her assistant, Andrew. A book editor, Margaret (Sandra Bullock) is a tough boss but convinces her assistant, played by Ryan Reynolds to marry her strictly as a matter of convenience. How can that go wrong? Well throw in some romance and an immigration official and things get interesting. I loved this romantic comedy and wanted my own copy so found it on the internet and downloaded The Proposal movie quickly and easily, and so can you.

The family of Andrew Paxton includes Betty White (90 year old grandmother Annie), Mary Steenburgen (his mother Grace), and Craig T. Nelson (playing his dad Joe). They own most of the town of Sitka, Alaska but Andrew works as an assistant to the editor (Sandra Bullock) who is a book editor in New York.
