Plot Summary:

This movie is for all those action comedy lovers out there who enjoy a good laugh. ‘Red’ is an action comedy starring Bruce Willis and Mary Louis Parker, both of whom have done an extremely good job of making the characters feel real. Directed by Robert Schwentke who has won three awards and who has given us movies like, ‘The Flight plan’ and ‘The Time Travelers Wife’. He has given yet another spectacular film. Writers Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber have written an engrossing story. The film also stars Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich. It has gained popularity among viewers and critics alike and has received positive feedback.

This is the story of an ex-CIA operative, Frank, played by Bruce Willis, who lives a retired, isolated and a lonely life. In other words Frank is living a very boring life. Living in a dull and uninteresting house and his life being the same, the only joy he has is when Frank talks to an employee of the government pensions processing center. Her name is Sarah (Mary Louis Parker) who is as lonely as Frank. For her Frank is an unknown guy for her but she still loves to talk to him aside from spy novels that make her happy in life.

The story of the movie unfolds when Frank and his other ex-CIA operatives are targeted for execution when the vice-president announces his candidacy for president. This makes Frank reassemble his old team which Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, and Helen Mirren who have excellent performances. John Malkovich has stolen the show with his crazed comic acting. Aside from these actors Richard Dreyfus and Ernest Borgnine have both acted out well, one as a spoilt and powerful arms dealer and the other with a cameo role respectively. Unwillingly this team of ex-CIA officers steps back in to the life that they had left behind. Out of intrigue and curiosity, Sarah is also caught up in all this brouhaha and learns about Franks past and the people he worked with. The people he worked with were now all RED… retired and extremely dangerous.

This film is a must watch with action and comedy mixed together. The supporting cast of Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich is impeccable and these top notch stars have delivered what they always manage to do that is give the viewers pure entertainment. ‘Red’ is a complete package film which is ridiculous and entertainingly delightful at the same time.
