Plot Summary:

The movie Shrek Forever After is the fourth installment of the famous franchise started in 2001 following the green ogre Shrek and his friends on new adventures.

Shrek has grown tired of his existence. He would like to frighten the villagers like he used to do instead of tending to the house and his children. At the party for the celebration of the children' birthday, he has an anger outburst. After leaving the house, he meets Rumpelstiltskin – a short man which always wanted to be the king of Far Far Away. Shrek receives a proposal from him to allow for an early memory to be erased in exchange of a real ogre's life. He agrees to it.

Shrek once again frightens villagers and is very happy with the outcome of the contract. But he soon finds out that he was tricked. The memory Rumpelstiltskin erased was that of Shrek's birth. Now, as the new king of Far Far Away, he can hold the ogres as slaves.

Shrek saves Donkey from imprisonment and learns that he has to share true love's kiss with Fiona in 24 hours to break the contract's effects.

Fiona who is cursed to be an ogre during the night is now leader of the ogre resistance against Rumpelstiltskin. Shrek and Fiona kiss, but as she is not in love with him in this reality the spell doesn't wear off.

Rumpelstiltskin offers to give a reward to the man able to bring Shrek to him. The ogre turns himself in so that all other ogres can be free. He and Fiona will be fed to the Dragon.

Donkey, Puss and the free ogres return to help release Fiona and Shrek. They defeat the Dragon and Rumpelstiltskin.

Just before the 24 hours period is finished, Fiona kisses Shrek, but this time it is out of true love. The spell is broken and Shrek lives happily ever after with his loving family.
