Plot Summary:

In you take into consideration all the comic book inspired movies that have even been made from the 1936 Flash Gordon to Fantastic Four in 2005, Sin City is like to be found up there among the highest when it comes to the category of fans satisfaction. Miller creates a world of thugs dressed in trench coats out of Spillane or Chandler, a touch of bad girl art that was all the rage in the 1950’s and a dah of manga style goriness which has inspired filmmakers like Quentin Tarantino and Rodriguez himself.

The film is a direct match to the comic book; distinct black and white images, splash with occasional, shocking and rich colors. Many of the modern noir themes move towards the darker side of monochrome but Miller’s techniques and superbly adapted here by the director, get the most out of white such as the crosses marking sticking plaster, the arterial spray of milky blood and the reflection on the sunglasses of a killer.

The script and screenplay is a direct match to the comic book stories. The original source material was abut Marv the soft-hearted unstoppable human freak who take revenge for the murder of is prostitute sweetheart by killing the cannibal who is feasting on unsuspecting victims. The film takes this story and the two of its follow-on stories as the basis for the movie.

Women, who watch this movie, be warned. Sin City is a direct definition of what is called a guys film. Men are either wounded good guys even though they are mass murderers or sadistic, repulsive cannibals. Women are either be pole dancers, whore or lesbian. However all the women are depicted as impossible beautiful whatever character they are playing. Women though tend not to last very long in the movie, and are killed off often in a very nasty way.

The extreme style of the movie takes a lot out of the pandering, in that the female across tend to be taking advantage of the males while living their own lives far removed from how others view them. You can however argue that the portrayal of the male character are even more of an insult to the gender as even good guys take the form of human freaks such as Marv.

In conclusion, this movie is by far Roberto Rodriguez’s best movie and a treat of guys especially fans of great looking female starts in full black and white. The movie is a classic example of imaginative violence bothering on the extreme and film noir at its best. Just download Sin City movie to see that it even has a samurai chick and dinosaur thrown in for good measure.
