Plot Summary:

In what can be considered the most obvious example of the plugging of a Star Wars plot hole, there is a scene in the Return of the Jedi where Ben Kenobi brushes aside Luke’s questions about why he was not told that Vader was his father by using the famous and often used quote “Many things in life depends greatly on your own point of view.” So then we can also say that from a different point of view, Revenge of the Sith, simultaneously the last and middle Star Wars movie is the most pleasing and best sequel of the whole Star Wars sage. Download Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith to judge for yourself and your own point of view if you agree with the statement.

Revenge of the Sith begins with the Jedi’s Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker attempting to rescue Chancellor Palpatine from the Trade Federation’s General Grievous. This is the linking of sorts to the previous movie Attack of the Clone, where it ended with the start of the Clone Wars. This episode does not show most of the Clone War stories which is covered through an animated series but there are hints of a prolonged war between the Galactic Alliance and the Trade Federation rebels.

Revenge of the Sith carries a greater responsibility than all the other prequels which it outclasses. George Lucas himself conceded that almost 60% of his original story outline was used in this episode which means that all the questions that were brought up in the preceding episodes are finally answered here. In conclusion, Revenge of the Sith is the final episode, the one where all the myth are finally set in stone. Lucas may change Naboo for all he likes but if he does not answer the birth of Vader correctly, his own franchise will never be the same.

Once the movie starts to answer the questions, the shortcomings start to appear yet again. We should be familiar with it by now but the poor dialogue from the previous episodes appears here as well. Many of the key scenes for the continuing Star Wars franchise such as Padme’s death and Vader birth is ultimately let down by ludicrous dialogue in both execution and intent. Sometimes you just want to scream “Noooo” at George Lucas and his dialogue.
The saddest thing about the whole movie is that the Anakin turn and the birth of Vader seems a little bit rushed where he seems to switch allegiance to Palpatine and Mace Windu like a confused brat. You would think such a key scene would demand a lot scene time than it had.

In the end, it all depends on the point of view you are taking. As the sequel to end all prequels, Revenge of the Sith falls a little bit short of expectation. The end of a saga demands much more than what this movie is able to deliver. However, if you are a true blue Star Wars fan, you will find that it is an both and excellent conclusion and beginning of the Star Wars Universe.
