Plot Summary:

The movie The Switch is a romantic comedy about a woman approaching middle age who wants to have a baby through artificial insemination.

Kassie gets along very well with her friend Wally who is the impersonation of pessimistic, narcissistic and neurotic. For him she is the best thing that ever happened to him. Still, she is reluctant to ask of Wally to donate his sperm for her to get pregnant. Instead, she searches for someone else and finds Roland – a handsome man to provide the needed seed. Wally is shocked by her choice as he always thought of himself to be her closest friend.

Debbie who is Kassie's best friend arranges for an “insemination” party where they will celebrate the fortunate event. Roland is asked to send the sample to Debbie's house. Wally hears of it and decides he should take this opportunity to provide his own sperm for the insemination. So he replaces the content.

Kassie gets pregnant and leaves town to go to Minnesota. She gives birth to a baby boy. After seven years, she comes back to New York with her son. She noticed that the boy resembles physically and psychologically to Wally more than to Roland. Wally becomes a good friend for Sebastian and finally founds the sense of family he was missing. Still, he needs to tell Kassie about the night when he switched the samples hoping that she might forgive him for it and let him be a good father for Sebastian.
