Plot Summary:

There are not many who get a chance to play a role twice, but Michael Douglas has done just that playing the role of Gordon Gekko almost 23 years after the release of the original film called Wall Street. Wall Street 2, or Money Never Sleeps is a sequel of the original film and begins from where it ended last time. The setting of the film is 2008, when the economy of the world was in doldrums and the country was on the brink of a financial disaster. Gordon is a disgraced Wall Street trader, who has served a sentence for insider trading. He is released from prison in 2001. The film actually begins in 2008, when Gordon has become an expert author on investments, and writes a book called “Is Greed Good?”. Gordon is seen answering the questions of reporters on TV. His daughter Winnie watches him on TV and is filled with disgust. She has nothing to do with the man as an estranged father. Winnie loves Jake who is an expert broker working for a firm. He is the protégé of the firm’s director Keller Zebel.

Keller Zebel’s company is doing well, but one day suddenly its stocks start plummeting. Zebel tries to workout a bail plan with the US treasury but he is insulted there by being asked to sell the stocks of the company at $3 whereas the actual value of the stock is at $75. Next morning Zebel throws himself on railway tracks and is killed.

Jake is saddened by Zebel’s death and approaches Gordon Gekko, as he is impressed by his ideas. Gordon is more of an antihero now. He somehow has a gut feeling that the economy is going to dogs, and the two of them start on a two tier mission: To alert the financial world about the impending doom, and to find out who was responsible for the death of Zebel. In return Gordon asks Jake to get back her estranged daughter. The reconciliation of the father and the daughter takes place in the end.
