Plot Summary:
If you like martial arts from China, this is a film that you cannot afford to miss. Directed by Alain Desrochers and written by Allen Hatcher and Cecil Arto, Wushu Warriors is in the genre of Action and keeps the audiences glued to its entire duration. The film stars Matt Frewer, Todd Fennell and Amber Goldfarb. It is a true GUY movie with lots of fights and no love story to disturb.
The setting of the film is in mainland China in the 19th century. Lord Edward Lindsey (Matt Frewer) is running an Opium business. One of his rivals, Reverend Elders (Matthew Bloomfield) is murdered, and his son Jonathan is taken to a small village situated outside the city. One of the village head, Uncle Pei (Gang Zhao) takes Jonathan under his wings now that he is an orphan. Jonathan sees two kids fighting and asks Uncle Pei about the martial art. He requests Uncle Pei to teach him the art. Uncle Pei says he will give him training in secret. Many years pass by, and Jonathan turns into a Wushu expert. He learns about Lord Edward’s involvement in the murder of his father and seeks to take revenge on him. He kidnaps his daughter Priscilla (Amber Mullin). She eventually escapes from his clutches and Lord Edward makes a plan to get rid of Jonathan when he knows that he has become a Wushu expert. Jonathan and his friends unite in their attempt to escape unhurt, but their strength alone may not be enough to protect them from the gangsters.
Though Wushu Warriors is an honest attempt to make a martial arts film, the film falls flat as it gets lost in the revenge plot. However, there are some fine action sequences in the film that make up for other flaws.
